Caretaking for a loved one can make you feel absolutely alone in the world. Nobody can understand what you are going through except somebody going through the same thing. You are not alone, there are other men and women going through the same thing you are on a daily basis. These are the people who understand and who can offer support and ideas to help you manage everything a little better.
Support groups have evolved just like everything else has during the pandemic. You no longer have to drive to these meetings. They are online and on the phone.
The Alzheimer's Association offers many virtual support groups and they are 100% free! Go to this webpage and type in your zip code to find local groups. In my region in New York there are groups in Dutchess, Ulster, Westchester counties and plenty more.
In Ulster County Jewish Family Services offers Zoom and phone based support groups. Take a look at their website or call 845-338-2980.
